Listen in as Dr Erturk reviews the uDISCO method, and discusses how it will provide researchers new opportunities to understand the anatomy and neuronal circuitry of an entire organism.
Dr Ali Erturk was born in Turkey, and received his PhD from the Max-Planck-Institute of Neurobiology in Munich, Germany. During his thesis, Dr Erturk developed the 3DISCO method- the first clearing method to study the pathologies of adult CNS tissue. He then joined the postdoctoral program at Genentech Inc. San Francisco, where he focused on synapse degeneration in brain trauma.
Since early 2015, Dr Erturk has led a research group at the Institute for Stroke and Dementia (LMU, University of Munich), where, with his team, he developed the ultimate DISCO method.
