PMID: 7930532 These two references were suggested by the following website: http://icg.cpmc.columbia.edu/cattoretti/Protocol/immunohistochemistry/MOMeasy.html This site also mentions a simpler approach, with results illustrated with a set of images: use a secondary antibody that will only recognize the heavy chain of the IgG isotype of the primary. Since each of the isotypes present in mouse is only 20-25% of the total IgG, background due to staining of endogenous IgG will be reduced, compared to using an anti-IgG that recognizes all isotypes. Antibody ab17833 against xanthine oxidase is isotype IgG1. Our only conjugated antibodies specific for IgG1 heavy chain are FITC conjugates, ab48229: https://www.abcam.com/MOUSE-IgG1-Heavy-chain-secondary-antibody-LO-MG1-2-FITC-ab48229.html or ab11588: https://www.abcam.com/Rat-monoclonal-LO-MG-1-2-Mouse-IgG1-heavy-chain-FITC-ab11588.html. For light microscopy instead of fluorescent detection, you could use either goat anti-mouse IgG1 ab9165, or rabbit anti-mouse IgG1 ab9172, but these are unconjugated and would need to be followed by a HRP- or AP-conjugated anti-rabbit or anti-goat IgG.
