Biological function summary
GPD1L affects several metabolic processes which are essential for cellular energy balance and homeostasis. It does not form a known complex but interacts with cellular components influencing metabolic flux. By acting as part of redox reactions it helps in maintaining the balance of redox states in cells. It also affects ion channels by modulating sodium current density in cardiac tissues which is important for heart function.
Pathways
GPD1L participates in metabolic and signaling pathways. It is integral to the glycerophosphate shuttle pathway helping in transferring reducing equivalents into mitochondria for ATP production. In addition it has a role in cardiac conduction and regulation of ion channels particularly in conjunction with the protein SCN5A which affects sodium ion flow and heart rhythm.
常规信息
功能
Plays a role in regulating cardiac sodium current; decreased enzymatic activity with resulting increased levels of glycerol 3-phosphate activating the DPD1L-dependent SCN5A phosphorylation pathway, may ultimately lead to decreased sodium current; cardiac sodium current may also be reduced due to alterations of NAD(H) balance induced by DPD1L.
序列相似性
Belongs to the NAD-dependent glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase family.
