G protein-coupled receptor 146 commonly known as GPCR GPR146 is a member of the extensive GPCR family involved in cell signaling. It weighs approximately 42 kDa. GPR146 is located on the cell membrane mainly expressed in the brain and heart tissues. Receptor for cholesin, a gut derived hormone which mediates an inhibitory effect of intestinal cholesterol absorption on hepatic cholesterol synthesis. Cholesin-binding exerts an antagonistic effect by inhibiting PKA signaling and suppressing SREBF2-controlled cholesterol in the liver (PubMed : 38503280).
