补充信息

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

CGT also known as Cortactin Gene Target is a protein involved in regulating the actin cytoskeleton by binding to actin filaments. It has a molecular mass of approximately 61 kDa. CGT is highly expressed in brain tissues as well as in cells associated with the immune system. Its expression is not limited to these areas; CGT can also be found in epithelial cells and plays a role in cell movement and stability by promoting the assembly of actin structures.
Biological function summary

CGT enhances the dynamics of actin filaments influencing processes such as cell shape and motility. CGT is part of the actin cytoskeleton complex and interacts with several other proteins to stabilize actin networks. It cooperates with proteins like Arp2/3 complex to facilitate branching and elongation of actin filaments and it also participates in endocytosis and phagocytosis by modulating the actin cytoskeleton.

Pathways

The regulation of cell migration and adhesion revolves significantly around CGT's function. CGT is an important component in the pathways controlling actin remodeling particularly during cell movement and adhesion processes. Its activity is interconnected with Rac and Rho GTPases which are central to actin filament rearrangement. CGT also links with other cytoskeletal regulators like N-WASP contributing to changes in cell structure required for various cellular responses.

CGT is implicated in cancer and neurological disorders. Its role in actin filament regulation and cell motility links CGT to cancer metastasis where abnormal cell spreading is observed. In neurological disorders CGT’s regulation of synaptic organization and neuronal migration connects it to conditions involving synaptic dysfunction. In these disease contexts CGT may interact with proteins such as N-WASP and the Arp2/3 complex to alter cellular pathways and contribute to disease progression.

常规信息

功能

Catalyzes the transfer of galactose to ceramide, a key enzymatic step in the biosynthesis of galactocerebrosides, which are abundant sphingolipids of the myelin membrane of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system (PubMed : 9125199). Galactosylates both hydroxy- and non-hydroxy fatty acid-containing ceramides and diglycerides (By similarity).

序列相似性

Belongs to the UDP-glycosyltransferase family.
