Biological function summary
CAB3 plays an integral role in calcium-dependent signaling pathways. This protein functions as part of a larger calcineurin complex alongside calcineurin A. CAB3 and the complex it forms modulate the activity of several downstream targets influencing cellular processes like gene expression and cytoskeletal dynamics. In neurons CAB3 contributes to the synaptic plasticity necessary for learning and memory.
Pathways
CAB3 is an important component in calcium and NFAT signaling pathways. It directly regulates these pathways impacting gene expression and cellular development. CAB3 interacts with other proteins like calmodulin which facilitates its binding and functional actions within the pathway. Through modulation of these pathways CAB3 participates in orchestrating cellular responses to external stimuli.
