Biological function summary
Zinc Finger Protein 787 functions as a transcriptional regulator by influencing gene expression through DNA binding. It does not operate as part of a larger complex but acts independently to exert its regulatory functions. By binding to specific DNA sequences ZNF787 can promote or inhibit the expression of multiple genes which play roles in cell differentiation and proliferation. This suggests its possible involvement in key developmental and maintenance roles within an organism.
Pathways
Zinc Finger Protein 787 plays a role in genetic regulatory networks that impact the MAPK signaling pathway and the Wnt signaling pathway. In the MAPK pathway ZNF787 potentially modulates the transcription of genes influenced by MAPK-mediated phosphorylation events impacting cellular responses like growth and apoptosis. It may also interact with proteins such as MAPK and beta-catenin in these pathways thereby linking it to important signaling events in the cell.
