ZC3H12B also known as MCPIP2 is a ribonuclease enzyme with a known mass of approximately 94 kDa. It has a zinc finger CCCH-type domain that allows it to bind RNA. ZC3H12B is expressed in various tissues with higher levels observed in the heart placenta and skeletal muscle. This protein functions mechanically by degrading mRNA regulating the stability and turnover of specific transcripts.
