Biological function summary
The zinc finger motifs and BTB domain in ZBTB3 are significant for its role as a transcriptional regulator. Through these domains ZBTB3 interacts with DNA and possibly other transcription factors as part of regulatory complexes impacting gene expression related to cell growth and differentiation. It influences cellular processes such as apoptosis and proliferation. Moreover ZBTB3 has been studied for its potential involvement in maintaining cellular homeostasis through gene network modulation.
Pathways
Several components in gene regulation benefit from the transcriptional network modulated by ZBTB3. It plays a part in the apoptotic and cell cycle pathways affecting cellular longevity and replication. ZBTB3 can interact with or be influenced by proteins such as p53 which is important in apoptosis and cancer progression. Its presence in these pathways highlights its importance in balancing cell survival and death signals often impacting the overall fate of cells in tissue contexts.
