Biological function summary
Tyrosine sulfation by TPST2 enhances protein-protein interactions impacting various cellular processes. TPST2 often forms a part of larger enzyme complexes within the Golgi apparatus facilitating the sulfation of substrates. This post-translational modification is important for modulating the activity and binding affinity of many proteins with consequences on cell signaling and communication.
Pathways
The enzyme TPST2 participates in the sulfation pathway impacting protein function and regulation within cells. It works alongside proteins such as heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) in modulating biological processes. Tyrosine sulfation conducted by TPST2 plays a role in the immune response pathway assisting in the regulation of leukocyte adhesion and signaling.
