    Tetanus toxoid is derived from the toxin released by Clostridium Tetanis that causes the disease tetanus. It is used as a vaccine to prevent tetanus or to help boost the immune response to other vaccines. A toxoid is a substance that has been treated to destroy its toxic properties but that retains the capacity to stimulate production of antitoxins, used in immunization. Tetanus toxoid is produced by formaldehyde inactivation of pure neuro toxin. Each lot is verified to be non toxic. In addition to being a potent antigen, tetanus toxoid is a useful carrier protein for making polysaccharides and haptens immunogenic.

 Recommended storage temperature for this antibody is 4ºC. Is the same temperature optimal after diluting it in PBS? Would be ultra freezing (-40ºC to -80ºC) harmful to the diluted antibody? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards,

Thank you for contacting us.   We have recommended storing this antibody at 4C. Our Abpromise is only valid if the products are stored correctly as stated on the datasheet. We have not particularly tested the effect of freezing on ab26247 so I am sorry we will not be able to confirm the 100% viability of this antibody after freezing. Normally antibodies are OK to freeze if the cryo-protective agent is present in buffer e.g. BSA or Glycerol. I may suggest adding Glycerol at 1:1 ratio before storing this antibody at -40 or -80C. Please also avoid any unnecessary freeze thawing steps. The antibodies shows better results when stored in non-diluted form.  I hope this information is helpful to you. Hi I'm just wondering - this antibody was produced using Tetanus toxoid as the immunogen. Do you sell this toxoid commercially or know of anywhere to obtain it? I've been using this antibody with success over the past few months and I'm happy with it, and so would really like to get hold of some commercially available toxoid to use in the test I've been developing.

Hi!! I am a member of Our customer bought this product but it was in a transparent vial not in a dark vial. It was supposed to be in a dark vial according to your datasheet. What happened with it? Is it OK? I was so embarrassed. Our customer got a bad result with it so she has suspected the quality of this product due to storage condition. Thank you for your enquiry. This antibody does NOT need to be stored in the dark. It is not conjugated and is NOT sensitive to light. This was a mistake on the datasheet and has been amended. Should your customer continue to have problems I ask that they submit a technical questionaire so that we can determine what the nature of the problem is.
