补充信息

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

RBMS3 also known as RNA-binding motif single-stranded interacting protein 3 is a protein with an approximate mass of 48 kDa. It is characterized by its RNA-binding motifs that enable interaction with single-stranded DNA and RNA. RBMS3 shows expression in various tissues notably in the heart lung and liver indicating a broad physiological role. The protein functions as a regulator of gene expression by binding to specific nucleic acid sequences influencing the stability and translation of mRNA.
Biological function summary

The functions performed by RBMS3 involve regulation in the cell cycle particularly in the control of cell proliferation and differentiation. It forms part of the complex that manages cellular responses to different physiological signals. Through its binding capacity RBMS3 influences the stability of critical mRNA transcripts involved in cellular growth and survival. This action places it at an essential point for maintaining normal cellular functions and adaptations to changes in the cellular environment.

Pathways

Its influence extends across several biological pathways including cell growth and apoptosis. RBMS3 regulates pathways involving tumor suppressors and oncogenes closely working with proteins such as p53 to control abnormal cell growth. In DNA damage response pathways RBMS3 affects how cells react to stressors that can lead to genetic mutations linking it to essential regulatory networks that maintain genomic integrity.

RBMS3 has been associated with cancer progression and developmental abnormalities. It frequently appears in research focusing on gastric and breast cancer where its function or expression levels change. In these contexts RBMS3 interacts with other regulatory proteins such as MYC which are involved in tumorigenesis. Disruptions in the regulation by RBMS3 may lead to uncontrolled cellular growth highlighting its role in disease pathology and potential as a therapeutic target.
