补充信息

QSOX2 also known as Quiescin Sulfhydryl Oxidase 2 is an enzyme that catalyzes the formation of disulfide bonds essential for protein folding. It belongs to a family of sulfhydryl oxidases and has a molecular mass of approximately 82 kDa. This protein functions in the endoplasmic reticulum where enhancing oxidative folding in proteins occurs. QSOX2 exhibits expression in various tissues but it is especially found in fetal liver pancreas and placenta.
Biological function summary

QSOX2 contributes to protein folding by promoting protein stability through disulfide bond formation. This protein is not known to be part of a larger complex but its activity supports the homeostasis within the endoplasmic reticulum. By ensuring proper protein folding QSOX2 prevents accumulation of misfolded proteins that could be detrimental to cellular functions. Stability in protein architecture is pivotal for maintaining cellular integrity and health.

Pathways

QSOX2 plays an important role in the protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) pathway. This pathway ensures proteins achieve their correct three-dimensional structures for functionality. Additionally QSOX2 may influence oxidative stress response pathways by maintaining redox balance in the ER. Within these pathways QSOX2 is related to proteins such as Protein Disulfide Isomerase that also assist in disulfide bond formation and proper protein folding within the ER.

QSOX2 may have implications in certain pathological conditions including cancer and neurodegeneration. Aberrant expression of QSOX2 has been linked to tumor progression where its increased activity may support cancer cell survival and proliferation by ensuring proper protein folding and reducing ER stress. In neurodegenerative disorders links between QSOX2 and proteins like amyloid precursor protein suggest potential roles in the accumulation of misfolded proteins leading to cellular dysfunction in these diseases.

靶点信息

Catalyzes the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in peptide and protein thiols to disulfides with the reduction of oxygen to hydrogen peroxide. May contribute to disulfide bond formation in a variety of secreted proteins. Also seems to play a role in regulating the sensitization of neuroblastoma cells for interferon-gamma-induced apoptosis.
