Biological function summary
PHF16 interacts with a range of molecular complexes related to gene expression regulation. It is a component of the HBO1 complex which plays a role in histone acetylation. This complex modifies chromatin structure to facilitate access to DNA for transcription machinery. PHF16 acts by binding to specific histone marks participating in the regulation of transcriptional activation of genes. These functions make it an important player in maintaining proper gene expression levels across diverse cell types.
