The NXT1 protein also known as NTX1 or nuclear export transporter factor 1 is an essential part of cellular machinery. It has a molecular weight of approximately 17 kDa. Expressed ubiquitously in human tissues NXT1 plays a significant role in nuclear transport processes. The protein forms a critical component of the nuclear export pathway primarily involved in the transport of RNA molecules between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. This function requires a complex interaction with nuclear export signals and other proteins involved in export mechanisms.
Biological function summary

NXT1 acts in coordination with exportin proteins as part of the nuclear export complex. It binds with the nuclear export receptor CRM1 to mediate the transport of RNA and proteins out of the nucleus. This interaction facilitates the shuttling of cargo molecules ensuring proper cellular function and gene expression regulation.
