Biological function summary
This protein plays significant roles in immune evasion and replication of viral RNA. NSP3 is a component of the viral replication transcription complex which collaborates with other non-structural proteins such as NSP4 and NSP6. Its PLpro domain exhibits deubiquitinating activity which helps the virus undermine host immune responses. These activities are important for the efficiency of viral replication and the persistence of infection within the host.
Pathways
NSP3 fits into complex viral replication and immune evasion pathways. It significantly impacts the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway by interfering with the host's ubiquitin signaling. NSP3 also involves in pathways related to protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum where it interacts with NSP4 and NSP5 to facilitate the formation of double-membrane vesicles vital for RNA synthesis.
