Biological function summary
MAGEA2 plays a role in regulating the p53 tumor suppressor pathway. It interacts with other proteins to inhibit p53 activity impacting cell cycle control and apoptosis. MAGEA2 is not generally part of a larger macromolecular complex but it can interact with several proteins that modulate its effects on cellular processes.
Pathways
Focusing on cell cycle and apoptosis reveals that MAGEA2 participates in inhibiting the p53 pathway. This suppression helps cancer cells evade normal growth control mechanisms. In addition to p53 MAGEA2 associates with proteins such as HDAC3 involved in transcriptional regulation. These interactions make it an intriguing target for modulating key pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival.
