Biological function summary
LSM11 acts within the U7 snRNP complex interacting with other snRNP proteins to ensure proper pre-mRNA cleavage and polyadenylation inhibition. This makes LSM11 essential for the correct formation of mature histone mRNA as histones require maturation without polyadenylation. The lack of poly-A tails in histone mRNA is vital for its role during DNA synthesis linking LSM11 directly to the cell cycle's intricacies. Its function is tightly regulated with multiple proteins interacting with LSM11 to modulate its activity within the histone gene expression pathway.
