ab124924 was shown to react with Integrin alpha 6 in wild-type SW480 cells in western blot with loss of signal observed in ITGA6 knockout cell line ab265838 (knockout cell lysate ab256957). Wild-type and ITGA6 knockout SW480 cell lysates were subjected to SDS-PAGE. Membranes were blocked in 3% milk in TBS-T (0.1% Tween®) before incubation with ab124924 and ab8245 (Mouse anti-GAPDH antibody [6C5]) overnight at 4°C at a 1 in 1000 dilution and a 1 in 20000 dilution respectively. Blots were incubated with Goat anti-Rabbit IgG H&L (IRDye® 800CW) preabsorbed (ab216773) and Goat anti-Mouse IgG H&L (IRDye® 680RD) preabsorbed (ab216776) secondary antibodies at 1 in 20000 dilution for 1 hour at room temperature before imaging.

Integrin alpha 6 also known as ITGA6 or CD49f functions as a transmembrane receptor protein involved in cell adhesion and signal transduction. As part of the broader integrin family integrin alpha 6 typically pairs with the beta 1 or beta 4 subunits forming the alpha6beta1 or alpha6beta4 integrins respectively. It has a molecular mass of approximately 150 kDa. This protein is mainly expressed in epithelial cells but also found in platelets certain immune cells and in the nervous system. Its expression patterns highlight its role in a variety of cellular and tissue functions.
Biological function summary

The integrin alpha 6 protein partners with the beta 4 subunit to form a heterodimer complex that plays an important role in cellular adhesion to the extracellular matrix specifically interacting with laminins.
