    Defects in LHCGR are a cause of familial male precocious puberty (FMPP) [MIM:176410]; also known as testotoxicosis. In FMPP the receptor is constitutively activated.
    Defects in LHCGR are the cause of luteinizing hormone resistance (LHR) [MIM:238320]; also known as Leydig cell hypoplasia in males. LHR is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by unresponsiveness to luteinizing hormone, defective sexual development in males, and defective follicular development and ovulation, amenorrhea and infertility in females. Two forms of the disorder have been defined in males. Type 1 is a severe form characterized by complete 46,XY male pseudohermaphroditism, low testosterone and high luteinizing hormone levels, total lack of responsiveness to luteinizing and chorionic gonadotropin hormones, lack of breast development, and absent development of secondary male sex characteristics. Type 2, a milder form, displays a broader range of phenotypic expression ranging from micropenis to severe hypospadias.

    Is ab125214 working on rat tissues paraffin sections? Where is staining exrected – cytoplasmic or nuclear or both in the Leydig cells (interstitial cells) of the testes? Which antigen retrieval solution is suggested?

    This product is tested for rat and Immunohistochemistry in Paraffin sections. We do generally recommend using a heat mediated antigen retrieval step, such as with citrate buffer. This antibody is against Hcg receptor, which is expressed on the cell membrane.

    We do not generate this antibody in-house and the supplying laboratory considers the immunogen sequence to be proprietary. All we know is that the immunogen is A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminal of human LHCGR, different from the relative rat sequence by two amino acids, mouse sequence by three amino acids.

    If you want to know if this antibody will work in a different species, let me know and I will ask the lab to BLAST the immunogen against that species to estimate the homology.

    I am interested in using the hCG-R Ab for ICC. The product number is Anti-hCG receptor antibody (ab125214). It says it was tested for IHC and I was wondering if it would be good for cell lines as well. Has it been tested in ICC? There is only a figure of a WB and I would like to see how it worked when you tested it in IHC. Do you have any figures you can send me? I want to evaluate its performance before buying it. Would I get a refund if it does not work in the cell lines I'm testing? Thank you.
