    IgE is the class of antibodies produced in the lungs, skin, and mucous membranes. It may protect against parasite invasion, but it is a major factor in allergic reactions. The antigen-specific IgE interacts with mast cells and eosinophils, triggers the release of histamine, leukotrienes and other substances that lead to the itching, sneezing and congestion of allergies - and the life threatening respiratory distress of asthma and anaphylactic shock.

    Hi I was wondering whether you could tell me which epitope this antibody binds to? We are conducting some experiments whereby we are crosslinking the IgE-receptor and then looking at expression but need to know that the epitope recognised by your antibody is not the same one as the antibody that we are using t stimulate our cells. Many thanks in advance for your assistance

    Unfortunately, having consulted with the source of this antibody, the epitope of the antibody is not known. However, it has been established that the antibody detects a different epitope to that of clones 4G7 and 4H10 (4G7: ab774 and 4H10: ab774 and ab77121 PE-dynamics conjugated). If you find there is an overlap with ab49434 and your other antibody you could change to using one of these alternatives. Otherwise we have a few anti-human IgE of which the epitope is know. ab7294 and ab7295 are specific for the Ce3 and Ce2 region respectively. ab7378 is specific for the Fc region and ab7382 is specific for the epsilon chain.
