Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-FGF11 antibody [MM0282-6J20] (AB89713)
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of human placental tissue section (4μm) labelling FGF11 with ab89713. Tissue was treated with 15μg/ml Protenase K for antigen retrieval and fixed with 4% PFA. A HRP-conjugated anti-mouse IgG was used as the secondary antibody (30 minutes at room temperature) followed by DAB color development.

Biological function summary
FGF11 contributes to the regulation of neuronal development and function. It is not part of a well-characterized protein complex but it plays a role in stabilizing voltage-gated sodium channels influencing synaptic transmission and neuronal excitability. FGF11 acts at intracellular sites to modulate electrophysiological properties of neurons further supporting the critical roles neurons perform in processing information and maintaining neurological functions.
Pathways
Research shows that FGF11 indirectly influences the signaling pathways involved in neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity. It does not partake directly in the traditional FGF receptor-initiated signaling cascades but interacts with intracellular proteins like ion channels affecting the function of pathways linked to neuronal electrical activity. Additionally FGF11's interaction with proteins such as neuronal sodium channels highlights its indirect influence on neurotrophic signaling pathways overlapping with pathways involving other intracellular FGFs.
