Catalyzes the terminal and only committed step in triacylglycerol synthesis by using diacylglycerol and fatty acyl CoA as substrates. In contrast to DGAT2 it is not essential for survival. May be involved in VLDL (very low density lipoprotein) assembly. -

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Anti-DGAT1 antibody (ab59034)
Immunofluorescence analysis of paraformaldehyde fixed A431 cells labelling DGAT1 with ab59034 for 1 hour at 10 µg/mL. Cells were permeabilized with 0.15% Triton. Anti-Goat IgG H&L (Alexa Fluor® 488) at 2 µg/mL was used as the secondary antibody (green). Nuclear DNA was labelled with DAPI (blue).
Negative control: Unimmunized goat IgG 10 µg/mL followed by Alexa Fluor® 488 secondary antibody (2ug/ml).
Strong expression of the protein seen in the endoplasmic reticulum and cytoplasm is seen.
