Anti-Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B抗体[2F12] (ab6499)

Antibody ab54023 has been tested in a neutralization assay that is described in the following reference. Figure 4 shows the data for this clone.

We do not test this antibody in a neutralization assay in-house so I do not have a protocol to send to you. A much simpler assay then the one used in the Kirchmeier paper is briefly described in the following paper. The assay involves counting PFU after incubation of virus with HCMV gB antiserum. The assay is described in the last paragraph of the paper. It does not mention applying this test to this clone or other monoclonal antibodies but it seems like an easy approach.

The other HCMV antibody you have, ab6499, has not, to our knowledge, been used in a neutralization assay.

Unfortunately, the Anti-Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B antibody [2F12] (ab6499), this antibody has not as yet been used in staining paraffin embedded sections to our knowledge. We do not have any other antibodies against this target which have been used in this application. However, this does not mean that it would not work, simply that we have not tried it and would therefore not be able to guarantee its performance in this application.

This antibody has never been tested against Rhesus CMV and 64% homology does not sound very promising - you would be better off with a polyclonal antibody. We are in the final stages of characterizing a chicken anti-CMV that may be applicable - will be available in the next month or so. If you need the single specificity (and has access to recombinant gB) perhaps the chicken polyclonal could be made monospecific via immunoaffinity purification.
