Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embeded human tonsil tissue stained for Cytokeratin 5 using ab17130 at 1/50 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis. Antigen retrieval with citrate buffer pH 6.0.

Flow Cytometry - Anti-Cytokeratin 5 antibody [XM26] (AB17130)

Overlay histogram showing A431 cells stained with ab17130 (red line). The cells were fixed with 80% methanol (5 min) and then permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Tween for 20 min. The cells were then incubated in 1x PBS / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine to block non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody (ab17130, 1/100 dilution) for 30 min at 22°C. The secondary antibody used was DyLight® 488 goat anti-mouse IgG (H+L) (ab96879) at 1/500 dilution for 30 min at 22°C. Isotype control antibody (black line) was mouse IgG1 [ICIGG1] (ab91353, 2μg/1x106 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed.

Required for the formation of keratin intermediate filaments in the basal epidermis and maintenance of the skin barrier in response to mechanical stress (By similarity). Regulates the recruitment of Langerhans cells to the epidermis, potentially by modulation of the abundance of macrophage chemotactic cytokines, macrophage inflammatory cytokines and CTNND1 localization in keratinocytes (By similarity).
