    Blood group related antigens represent a group of carbohydrate determinants carried on both glycolipids and glycoproteins. They are usually mucin-type, and are detected on erythrocytes, certain epithelial cells, and in secretions of certain individuals. Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but inter-related specificities belong to this group of antigens, including A, B, H, Lewis a, Lewis b, Lewis x, Lewis y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens. Lewis y (type 2 chain) antigen is a difucosylated tetrasaccharide found on the Type 2 blood group oligosaccharides of glycolipids and glycoproteins. It is expressed in large bowel tumors and colorectal carcinomas. It may be useful in the classification of human renal and bladder tumors. The Lewis y antigen has been evaluated as a clinical marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of cholangiocarcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer.

    Immunohistochemistry analysis (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) of formaldehyde-fixed human colon tissue permeabilized with 0.05% Tween 20. Stained with ab3359 at 1/50 dilution. Secondary antibody used was Alexa fluor® 647 Donkey anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) Highly Cross-Adsorbed at 1/300 dilution. Blocking was done with Sea Block for 30 minutes at 22°C. The sample was incubated with the primary antibody and Sea Block for 14 hours at 4°C. Antigen retrieval method was heat mediated, ab64236 100x Citrate Buffer pH 6.0.

We noticed that for example #ab9100 is shipped by 4°C but has to be stored at -20°C !!!

From which day the long term storage applays?



Further more, would you please arrange that this information will be printed on the vials ???!!!

Thank you for your inquiry.

I can confirm that the storage temperature of our products can be found on the individual datasheets.

Short term storage is usually two weeks. If the products is not used within two weeks of purchase, we in general recommend to aliquot it and to store as stated for the long term storage. As a general rule, freeze/thaw cycle are to be avoided.

Please find below the long term storage conditions for the products you are interested in:

ab9100 : Upon delivery aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.

ab3358 : Store at +4°C.

ab3359 : Store at +4°C.

ab30667 : Upon delivery aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.

ab86128 : Aliquot and store at -20°C or -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.

Since the vials are small and we want the text to be readable, we strongly suggest to check the datasheets for the storage information. This will have the positive side effect that also all the other valuable information on the datasheet will be seen.

Dear Sir/Madam; Whil I was searching an antibody, I have a question about one of your antibody. The antibody I am concerning is Anti-Blood Group Lewis y antibody [F3] (ab3359). It is a mouse monoclonal IgM. What I want to know is the concentration of the IgM protein in the tube. I know the product contains 1% BSA but says it is 500ul. For my experiment, I need to know the protein concentration of the IgM.

Although concentration of this product is lot dependent, our current lot ofab3359 Anti-Blood Group Lewis y antibody [F3] has a concentration of4.5ug/ml.

Thank you for your enquiry. The antibody storage conditions are detailed on every datasheet under the "Storage instructions" section. We make the general recommend that should our antibodies stipulate storage at -20oC then they can be stored for up to 2 years at this temperature. Likewise we suggest that our antibodies can be stored at -80oC for 10 years. When an antibody can only be kept at 4oC we recommend that it is functional for up to 12 months.
