补充信息

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

ASCC1 also known as Activating Signal Cointegrator 1 Complex Subunit 1 serves as a part of an important protein complex involved in transcriptional regulation. This protein weighs approximately 86 kilodaltons and exhibits expression in various tissues including the heart and skeletal muscles. ASCC1 acts mechanically by contributing to the remodeling of chromatin assisting in the process of transcriptional activation by modifying how genes are accessed within the chromatin structure.
Biological function summary

ASCC1 plays an important role in the functioning of the ASC-1 complex which includes other associated subunits such as ASCC2 and ASCC3. This complex is involved in the regulation of gene expression by influencing the transcriptional machinery. Through interaction with transcriptional coactivators ASCC1 modulates the transcription of specific genes aiding in cellular response mechanisms.

Pathways

Researchers have identified ASCC1 as pivotal in the DNA repair process and the transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair pathway. Within the DNA repair pathway ASCC1 collaborates with proteins such as XPC in addressing DNA damage and maintaining genomic stability. This integration into critical pathways illustrates its influence on cellular processes that protect the genomic integrity from various types of damage.

Scientists link mutations in ASCC1 to esophageal cancer and spinal muscular atrophy. In esophageal cancer altered ASCC1 expression influences tumorigenic pathways often in conjunction with proteins such as p53. Similarly dysfunction in spinal muscular atrophy involves protein partners where ASCC1 abnormalities disrupt normal cellular mechanisms resulting in the disease's characteristic symptoms. Understanding these connections offers potential insights into therapeutic approaches targeting ASCC1-related pathways.

靶点信息

Plays a role in DNA damage repair as component of the ASCC complex (PubMed : 29997253). Part of the ASC-1 complex that enhances NF-kappa-B, SRF and AP1 transactivation (PubMed : 12077347). In cells responding to gastrin-activated paracrine signals, it is involved in the induction of SERPINB2 expression by gastrin. May also play a role in the development of neuromuscular junction.
