Epitope mapping has not been performed so the exact binding sequence that the antibody pair recognizes is not known. All that is known is that the antibodies are binding somewhere on the full length protein (http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P20294).

The lab didn't think that the human kit ab99994 would detect mouse samples since it didn't work in rat (the mouse and rat proteins are 95% homologous).
