Human P-Selectin ELISA kit (ab272200) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of P-Selectin protein in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human P-Selectin with 89 pg/mL sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less

P-selectin, also known as CD62, Granule membrane protein 140, Leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion molecule 3, or platelet activation dependent granule-external membrane protein, is a cell adhesion molecule (CAM) encoded by the SELP gene. P-selectin is Ca2+ dependent cell-surface glycoprotein that functions in the migration of lymphocytes into tissues during inflammation. P-selectin expressed by megakaryocytes and endothelial cells, where it is stored in Weibel-Palade bodies and alpha-granules. In the presence of agonists such as thrombin, P-selectin is translocated to the plasma membrane from granules. P-selectin expression is also induced by inflammatory agents such as; TNF-a, LPS, and IL-4. The ligand for P-selectin is P-Selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1), which is primarily expressed on all leukocytes.

Ca(2+)-dependent receptor for myeloid cells that binds to carbohydrates on neutrophils and monocytes. Mediates the interaction of activated endothelial cells or platelets with leukocytes. The ligand recognized is sialyl-Lewis X. Mediates rapid rolling of leukocyte rolling over vascular surfaces during the initial steps in inflammation through interaction with PSGL1. -
