Human P-cadherin ELISA kit (ab274395) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Human P-caderin protein in serum and plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human P-cadherin with 77.07 pg/mL sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:

P-cadherin (CDH3) is a member of the cadherin family of calcium-dependent adhesion proteins. P-cadherin is expressed in epithelial cells and some cancers. Soluble P-cadherin expression is correlated with tumor stage in non-invasive lung cancer and is a target for potential therapeutic treatment of cancer.

Defects in CDH3 are the cause of hypotrichosis with juvenile macular dystrophy (HJMD) [MIM:601553]. HJMD is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by early hair loss heralding severe degenerative changes of the retinal macula and culminating in blindness during the second to third decade of life.
Defects in CDH3 are the cause of ectodermal dysplasia with ectrodactyly and macular dystrophy (EEM) [MIM:225280]; also known as EEM syndrome, Albrectsen-Svendsen syndrome or Ohdo-Hirayama-Terawaki syndrome. Ectodermal dysplasia defines a heterogeneous group of disorders due to abnormal development of two or more ectodermal structures. EEM is an autosomal recessive condition characterized by features of ectodermal dysplasia such as sparse eyebrows and scalp hair, and selective tooth agenesis associated with macular dystrophy and ectrodactyly. -

Interpolated concentrations of native P-cadherin in human serum and plasma samples.The concentrations of P-cadherin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the P-cadherin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: serum 50%, plasma (heparin) 50%, and plasma (EDTA) 100%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean P-cadherin concentration was determined to be 9,438 pg/mL in serum, 7,171 pg/mL in plasma (heparin), and 5,427 pg/mL in plasma (EDTA).

Serum from ten individual healthy human female donors was measured in duplicate.Interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean P-cadherin concentration was determined to be 7,429 pg/mL with a range of 4,127 – 9,721 pg/mL.
