Human LAYN ELISA Kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human LAYN in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. This assay employs an antibody specific for human LAYN coated on a 96-well plate.

The LAYN protein also known as layilin plays a role in cell adhesion and signal transduction. It is an approximately 55 kDa protein expressed mainly in epithelial and immune cells including T-cells and natural killer cells. This protein sits on the cell surface and has a connection to the cytoskeleton through its cytoplasmic tail. Alternate expression may occur in both normal and cancerous tissues indicating a role in various physiological and pathological processes.

LAYN facilitates interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix. It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid contributing to cell migration and tissue remodeling. While it is not part of any specific complex layilin may interact with other extracellular matrix proteins to promote cellular activities.
