Human GFAP ELISA Kit ab223867 is a rapid single-wash 90-min Sandwich ELISA to measure Human GFAP in tissue extracts. This SimpleStep sensitivity is 47 pg/mL.

How the assay works

Human GFAP SimpleStep ELISA^®employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA^® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. 1. Mix: add samples/standards to the wells together with the capture and detector antibody cocktail. Incubate 1 hr at room temperature
2. Wash
3. Add TMB development solution - incubate for 10 min
4. Add Stop solution
5. Read the results on a plate reader at 450 nm

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is a class-III intermediate filament, cell-specific marker that during development of the central nervous system, distinguishes astrocytes from other glial cells. Protein expression is also found in numerous cell types including astrocytes, ependymal cells, osteocytes, keratinocytes and chondrocytes. GFAP has also been found to be expressed in rat glomeruli, peritubular fibroblasts, stellate cells of the pancreas and liver tissue as well as Leydig cells of the testis in both hamsters and humans.
