Dihydrofolate Reductase Assay Kit (Colorimetric) (ab239705) is based on the ability of DHFR to catalyze the oxidation of NADPH. The reaction progress is followed by monitoring the decrease in absorbance at 340 nm. Our assay has been optimized to be carried out in a 96-well plate. It is simple, sensitive and can detect as low as 4 mU/ml in a variety of samples.

This product was previously called K246 Biovision Dihydrofolate Reductase Activity Kit (Colorimetric). Biovision was acquired by Abcam in 2021.

Key enzyme in folate metabolism. Contributes to the de novo mitochondrial thymidylate biosynthesis pathway. Catalyzes an essential reaction for de novo glycine and purine synthesis, and for DNA precursor synthesis. Binds its own mRNA and that of DHFR2.
