Singapore 2019 - 952x200

Challenges and Advances in Antimicrobial Resistance Research

A one day meeting to discuss the latest developments within the field

Matrix, Biopolis, A*STAR, Singapore
April 5, 2019

Multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) strains are responsible for an increasing number of deadly outbreaks and hospital-acquired infections around the globe, undermining advances in health and medicine. Understanding the biology behind these infections and developing novel counteracting strategies will help in mitigating the threat of anti-microbial resistance (AMR).

Discussion topics will include:

  • Immune evasive mechanisms
  • Clinical challenge - identification and treatment
  • Novel therapeutic / diagnostic arsenals

Confirmed speakers

  • Dr. Jose Bengoechea (Queen's University Belfast, UK)
Klebsiella pneumoniae: a master tactician in immune evasion
  • Dr. Pablo Bifani (National University of Singapore, Singapore)
  • Dr. Yunn Hwen Gan (National University of Singapore, Singapore)
How Klebsiella pneumoniae interact with the host’s gut and liver
