Reacts well in ELISA and can be used both as catching antibody and detection antibody. It can neutralize concentrated virus for a few days.

Poliovirus, the causative agent of poliomyelitis, was first isolated nearly 100 years ago. Poliovirus is a single stranded RNA virus and a member of the Picornavirus family. It has three strains: Poliovirus 1, 2 and 3. Replication of poliovirus RNA is accomplished by the error prone viral RNA dependent RNA polymerase. The cell receptor for poliovirus is CD155.
