    ab115486 is a Homologous Recombination Panel designed for the detection and characterization of key proteins involved in DNA double strand break (DSB) repair by homologous recombination (HR). Histone H2A.X is phosphorylated on S139, termed gamma H2A.X, at sites of DNA damage. DNA DSB repair by HR involves processing of DNA DSB ends by CtIP, an endonuclease, and p95 NBS1, a protein of the MRN complex, while the RAD51 recombinase and the RAD54 protein facilitate repair of the processed DNA break.

    ab23996 detects a band at approximately 95 kDa, the size at which NBS1 migrates, in MRC5 cell lysate. This band is not detected in fibroblasts in which NBS1 is not expressed, indicating that it is specific for the NBS1 protein.
