Glucocorticoid receptor (GR) belongs to the nuclear receptor superfamily of structually related ligand-inducible transcription factors. GR acts as a transcription factor that binds to glucocorticoid response elements (GRE) and as a modulator of other transcription factors.
Abcam's Glucocorticoid Receptor Kit can be used in gel mobility shift assays to investigate the role of GR in different tissues or the role of GRE under specific conditions such as hormone stimulation.
Each kit contains enough protein for approximately 50 gel mobility shift reactions. For supershift assays, we recommend the use of Rabbit polyclonal anti- Glucocorticoid Receptor antibody (ab3671).
Vial A contains recombinant human glucorticoid receptor (full length) that was expressed in an insect cell expression system and enriched by ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by dialysis in KED buffer with 20% glycerol.
Vial B contains a dsDNA oligonucleotide representing the human tyrosine amino transferase gene response element. See protocol for specific sequence.
