Additional Notes
Compared to other anti nestin antibodies we currently use this antibody gave poor non specific staining in Human brain tissue, mouse brain tissue and rat neural stem cells. The staining seemed to be granular almost surface staining . Which is a different staining pattern seen with other anti nestin antibodies we use, which give even intracellular staining of long intermediate filaments.
Abcam response
Thank you for your honest and thoughtful feedback. Abcam has not yet tested this antibody in immunohistochemistry on frozen sections. Often, the freezing process and fixation can cause epitope masking and damage. One other customer who attempted staining on fixed cells also saw similar staining (see Abreview), suggesting this antibody may not be suitable for use in these applications.
The reviewer received a reward from Abcam’s Loyalty Program in thanks for submitting this Abreview and for helping the scientific community make better-informed decisions.
