Additional data
Additional Notes
In immunofluorescene localization using frozen ovary sections fixed in 4% ice-cold paraformaldehyde/PBS, this antibody generated signal in ovarian surface epithelium cells, which are known to be devoid of FSHR. Further, the signal for the granulosa cells, which are the primary sites of FSHR, was virtually undetectable. The major band in the WB was also far smaller than the molecular weight of the FSHR (approx. 78 kDa). Therefore, we think that this antibody cannot be used for the hamster.
Abcam response
Thank you very much submitting Abreview. We have never tested this antibody in hamster species and western blot so we are not sure about the observed band size with hamster lysates. It may well be that the antibody is not suitable for hamster species however we are not 100% sure. The positive control of known human cell line lysates e.g. MCF7 would have been better to use.
We will welcome the data other people would like to share for this antibody. Please contact us at technical@abcam.com for any question or concerns.
The reviewer received a reward from Abcam’s Loyalty Program in thanks for submitting this Abreview and for helping the scientific community make better-informed decisions.
